Work Centre Manager

South Shore Work Activity Program

F/T, permanent – 80 hours bi-weekly

Beginning March 12, 2012

 

South Shore Work Activity Program requires a Work Centre Manager to lead and support the delivery of employment assisted service and pre-employment services for youth and adults with employment barriers.  Using a holistic approach, the Work Centre strives to provide program participants with the necessary skills, self awareness, and confidence to pursue further training or enter the work force and become contributing members of our community.

 

The Manager works as part of a Senior Management Team within South Shore Community Services directing a staff team of 8.  He/She liaises with representatives of other Work Activity Programs in Nova Scotia, staff from local and provincial offices of Community Services and Employment Nova Scotia. The Manager also develops and maintains linkages with other community based employment readiness and community development agencies and services. The Manager is responsible for all financial administration, human resource management functions, and program design, delivery, and development functions.

 

This position offers full-time employment with a cost shared group insurance plan, employer matched group RRSP, generous vacation and sick leave allowances.  

 

The successful candidate will have a combination of post secondary education and work experience in business management, leadership, staff supervision and human services with at least 5 years or more of experience within a human service agency.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of the issues facing youth and adults with multiple employment barriers and program development needs to meet individual needs. Evidence of strong computer literacy skills and a high level of competence in oral and written communication skills will need to be provided. A clear vulnerable sector criminal record check, current first aid certification, and a clear driver’s abstract will be required prior to appointment.
